Lexington Co., SC (WOLO) — The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department have arrested 31 year old Tracy Chad Russell, Jr. accused of trying to kill two children and a woman by setting a Lexington home on fire. Authorities say Lexington fire crews were called to a house fire in the 100 block of Addie Lucas Road June 28, 2024. After putting out the blaze, the Lexington County Fire Services determined the fire looked suspicious in nature and began an investigation in to what sparked it.

Following a deeper probe in to the cause, deputies say investigators determined Russell not only knew three people were inside inside the home when they allege he intentionally used torch fuel canisters to set it ablaze.

Lexington County Investigators spoke with witnesses, as well as those involved to find out when smoke first started billowing out of the home and were able to determine Russell left the home after the fire and never returned to the property. Deputies tracked Russell down in Orangeburg County where they took him into custody. According to arrest warrants, Russell is charged with three counts of attempted murder and a single count of second-degree arson.

He is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
