Three people have been arrested following a major crash which flipped a car and injured three people.

Police, ambulance and fire were called at 7.25pm yesterday to a three-vehicle crash on Westleaze in Lower Burton near The Sun Inn pub.

One witness reports seeing the road closed with three smashed cars, including one on its side.

Three people were taken to hospital with what police say were minor injuries.

The road was closed between Lower Burton near The Sun Inn pub and was only re-opened at 5am this morning.

A man and a woman – both aged in their late teens and from Weymouth – and a woman aged in her 20s from the Dorchester area, were arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At 7.25pm on Wednesday, July 10, we received a report of a three-vehicle road traffic collision on the Westleaze road in Lower Burton near The Sun Inn pub.

“Officers attended with the ambulance and fire services.

“The road was temporarily closed between Lower Burton near The Sun Inn pub.

“Three people were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

“The local authority was notified of the incident, and the road was reopened at around 5am on Thursday, July 11.”
