Oxford County, Maine (WMTW) – A Maine man who was considered “armed and dangerous” has been taken into custody four days after he was accused of shooting at a man during a confrontation in Gilead, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Jacob McGurn, 28, of Gilead, was arrested at about 11 a.m. Monday, according to Sheriff Christopher Wainwright.

McGurn was wanted on multiple charges, including domestic violence assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, terrorizing and driving to endanger.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies responded to reports of a weapons offense on Gilead Road in Gilead at about 4 a.m. Thursday.

The deputies said that McGurn and another man got into a physical confrontation at a Gilead home, during which McGurn fired several shots in the man’s direction.

The Sheriff’s Office said McGurn fled the area as deputies were arriving, and that those deputies later learned he had been previously involved in another violent confrontation at a nearby residence in Bethel.

Deputies seized several firearms while processing both crime scenes, according to authorities.

Wainwright said his office would be sharing more information about McGurn’s arrest later on Monday.
