MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department and the Community Risk Reduction Division will host a series of events to show behind the scenes of firefighting.

According to a news release, the series of open house events, “Fridays at the Firehouse,” will begin this week and last through Aug. 2.

The free events will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays at the following fire stations:

  • July 12: Louis B. Lathan, 1951 Maryvale St.
  • July 19: Crichton, 200 Davenport Ave.
  • July 26: Springhill, 700 Museum Drive
  • August 2: Public Safety Complex, 8080 Airport Blvd.

Officials explained the events allow residents to meet neighborhood firefighters, tour the stations, explore the fire engines, learn fire safety and participate in firefighter activities.

“You probably always see a lot of activity at the station and maybe you’re curious about what goes on inside,” MFRD Public Information Officer Jeff Haller said. “Fridays at the Firehouse events provide a great opportunity to peek behind the bay doors and see what the men and women of your fire department do on a day-to-day basis.”
